The Triumph Program is based on two important principles:
1. The more purpose you find in tragedy, the less painful it becomes.
2. There is powerful healing found in service to others.
In the course of twelve weeks, The Triumph Program helps our guests recognize the purpose found in all of life’s adversities. But this program goes beyond mere recognition; it helps our guests grab hold of the great gift of purpose such adversity offers. It helps them expand their talents, hopes, desires and capacity for joy.
The Triumph Program contains seven sections of writing, reading, creative expression, and other activities which will help participants view their situation from a new angle. They take on the perspective of a researcher, which gives them space to explore the depth of their life’s painful experiences and potential for bringing good into the world.
They work through sections each week as well as participate in weekly group meetings. The group discussion and exercises at the end of each section bring added insights and understanding, offer lasting friendships, and help them feel less alone in their suffering. By processing their adversities together, they create sincere, compassionate bonds that impact their lives in deep and profound ways. This is an important part of the healing process. Volunteers are needed to record and transcribe participant answers and group sessions to make this program accessible for participants with brain fog, short term memory and executive functioning difficulties.
In time, participants begin to look forward to participating in this program from day to day and week to week. However, the effectiveness, success, and even enjoyment of the program depends entirely upon the commitment and time they and their volunteers are able to give to completing the exercises and activities. As the common expression states: The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
