CONSIDER THIS ANTHEM of their plea, Dreamer, written and sung by a brain cancer patient who hopes to never end up a pain refugee like the woman for whom I am a 24/7 caregiver and advocate:

Listen to the heart of our pain refugees…

"Once I was a dreamer,

THEY ARE NOT ALONE, their lives being at risk: Danny Elliot, who relied on pain medication to treat painful lifelong complications from an electrocution 30 years before, was found dead by suicide November 2022 along with his wife, Gretchen, (who was healthy and not a pain patient) after the DEA rescinded his license and he was in a gap of care. She couldn’t live without him. (Source: Vice, Independent) A third patient of the same practice died shortly after (Vice)

Each time these stories are shared and the anthem to their cry is heard, another voice in pain is less alone   (small ask👇🏼)

Dear [legislator], I am adding my voice to the voices in pain to get protections carved out for them—a safe harbor to free them from the agony of being trapped as prisoners in their own bodies. To give them back THE LIVES THEY LOST with across the board fear-forced tapers having MME caps without regard to fast metabolizers genetically, and prerequisite expensive alternatives that are still NOT COVERED by insurance. Please restore the Hippocratic oath in our doctor patient relation
