OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

One of my greatest passions in life is to do for other women what Emily did for me in 2018—helping dynamic, professional, educated, and successful women take their lives back after being hit by a neuro-debilitating condition. I'm a single mother of four nearly grown children, the oldest of which, Ashley (24) has been writing a book called “Chronically Thriving,” devoted to her search for a way to thrive in this world after syndromes associated with a genetic condition struck her in HS back in 2015.

In the course of Ashley's research, she and I were struck by how similar the losses are between those having long term neuro-debilitating conditions and actual prisoners: loss of home, career, recreational pursuits and hobbies, friends, and family. It’s like being a prisoner in your own body with no end in sight. Even worse, "the torture inflicted upon both body and soul by NeuroLyme crosses into the realm of the inhumane," explains Dr. Trippa, a licensed clinical psychologist who personally understands this trauma.

Before being struck down with this Neuro-debilitating condition, I was a licensed CPA work in public accounting as a senior tax associate and later in private industry. Due to the ability to lead and train, I was chosen by a NYSE employer to serve as one of eight peak performance trainers in a company-wide team. My experience as an accountant, leader, and trainer, coupled with my passion to help other chronically ill professional women get back on their feet again, prepares me well for the role of Executive Director at Emily's Place.

In the next phase of Emily's Place, I would like to gather researchers, mental health professionals, professional organizers, as well as families who have successfully weathered the storm of neurological chronic illnesses to find even more effective ways to strengthen families at-risk in the middle of these storms.
