In October of 2018, Emily, a stranger from Arizona, traveled to Oregon on nothing but a prayer. She didn't know why she was going there or what she would do when she arrived, until her paths crossed with a single mother struck by a debilitating disease...
She changed our Founder's life for the better which led to her being inspired to Found Emily's Place a year and a half later. Today, she works at New Vision Wilderness Therapy following another passion: to one day open a place for foster kids who have never felt loved and keep falling through the cracks.
Emily loves her family (2nd oldest of five girls), everything green, the sun peering through mountain peaks in the morning, blue, green and orange hues, dreaming, stars, dainty little rings, candles, crystals, poetry, hot chai tea lattes, Burt’s Bee’s chapstick and hand written letters.
She is so excited about Co-Founding Emily’s Place!
In honor of our first guest, Robin Adams-Hayes Ph.D., English Composition,
Three months after arriving in Oregon to help Inger, Emily became the Medicare Asst.Part-time for a woman fighting brain cancer. There, she discovered Neuro-tickborne disease manifests in disability much like a person with brain cancer and missing 1/3 of your brain! Inger & Courtney found solace in comparing their personal struggles! The words of Dreamer, written & sung by Courtney, resonates with the beginning of Inger’s journey...before God reached out and pulled her head above water.
